Diameter
Changing diameter alters guard clearance, cutting depth, rim speed, and brake behavior.
Arbor and flanges
Bushings are not universal permission. Use only adapters explicitly approved for the blade and saw.
RPM rating
The blade’s maximum RPM must meet or exceed the saw’s no-load speed.
Method for this decision
- Record the saw’s exact blade diameter, arbor, and no-load RPM from its manual or nameplate.
- Compare those values with the blade label and confirm flange, guard, plate, and kerf limits.
- Install only an approved blade and rotate it by hand with power disconnected to check clearance before a test cut.
Worked example
Example: two blades can share an arbor while having different maximum RPM or kerf. A bushing may fill a hole but does not automatically approve a diameter, flange, or machine combination.
Limits and stop conditions
Never exceed the blade’s rated RPM or defeat a guard to gain depth. If the manual, blade label, or flange dimensions disagree, do not infer compatibility from a retailer listing.
