01

Rotary blades

TCG and neutral or negative hook are common in purpose-built nonferrous blades.

02

Reciprocating and band blades

Bi-metal variable pitch works when section thickness and speed are controlled.

03

Lubrication

Follow the blade, saw, and workplace rules; some tools prohibit liquid near electrical or dust-collection components.

04

Method for this decision

  1. Confirm the alloy form and choose a blade explicitly rated for aluminum and the saw family.
  2. Clamp the profile, verify hook and RPM, and support the offcut so it cannot rotate or pinch.
  3. Keep chips moving with a steady feed and inspect for chip welding, grabbing, or hot buildup.
05

Worked example

Example: a thin aluminum angle can twist into a handheld blade even when its outside size appears small. A restrained hook and firm support address self-feeding; lubrication is a separate manufacturer-approved decision.

06

Limits and stop conditions

Do not apply liquid near a tool or dust system that forbids it. Aluminum chips can be sharp and hot, and the selector cannot validate an alloy, coating, or machine not represented in the reviewed matrix.
